My Klout score has nearly doubled in just around four weeks. Ok, so there is a fundamental reason for this <see below> but the moral of the post is that if you don’t talk much on Twitter, and then you suddenly start to get a bit chatty, your Klout score will go up pretty quickly.

It’s well documented that Klout is only an indication of influence. Some circles suggest that the algorithm is nothing short of a farce, and it’s fairly meaningless, but one thing is for sure, people are using it.

The theory behind Klout makes a load of sense to me. If you can reach a wide audience with something that you say, and your audience can then reach an even wider network, you theoretically have “influence”.

There’s no secret that Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ are the primary networks that affect your Klout the most, but I have found that a significant increase in tweeting can have a immediate and material impact on your influence. Why? Read on.

How To Double Your Klout

I’ve been away recently – let’s call it an extended vacation (and no, I didn’t go to prison!!). No matter how much you try, you don’t stay on top of things as much as you would like and my tweeting suffered. My twitter account had a few thousand followers and, unfortunately, they were the people who suffered as a result of my tweets drying up for a while and my Klout score dipped. Actually, it died.

Fast forward to my return from vacation, and I start to catch up on all things social. I start to find my tweeting shoes once again and almost immediately, I see a rapid improvement in my score – perhaps as much as a 25% rise. I chat to my new network, increase my follower count a little, and BAM, my score almost doubles in four weeks.

Ok, there are some other factors in play here. I gain myself a bunch of new Facebook friends and I start to like, share and comment on the largest social network. Additionally, I now have a larger blog, an Instagram account and I’ve been going bananas on Foursquare whilst I have been jet setting around Latin America.

Whilst I believe that these factors all contribute, there is no denying that Twitter is king for me when it comes to Klout influence. The moment I start to talk again, and people start to listen and retweet me, my Klout goes through the social roof. Start tweeting more and I promise you’ll be picking up some Klout perks in no time at all.

About Adrian Britton

Sometimes I will talk about things that are interesting, and sometimes I won’t. Sometimes it will be a bit of a laugh, and sometimes it will just be a downright rant about something going on in the world – I’m often accused at moaning a lot, and I consider myself quite good at it !!
