Everyone has annoying habits, and unfortunately, the internet means that people’s online habits are there for all to see. Here are 5 personal Facebook habits which I consider to be very annoying and have to get off my chest…

Number 1 – Caps

Right, why do some people insist on SHOUTING ALL THE TIME. It’s not as if their bloody caps lock is broken is it? I know this is a little bit ageist, but I do often find that older people are quite often responsible for this. If you’re under the age of 50, then there’s no fcuk*ng excuse to be honest. Sort your life out.

While we’re on that subject, “wHaT iS alL tHiS AbouT aS WeLl”. FFS….

Number 2 – Religion

Moving on, why do others insist on forcing religion down people’s throats as well? I don’t really think that God is looking over me today and if I did, I’m not sure that all my family and friends will give two shakes of a rats backside about it. If I’ve had a bad day at the office, or there has been an unfortunate event in my personal life, I don’t need to tell 250 people that things will be better because the lord is watching over me. Go to church, or alternative place to do your business, and don’t share it with others.

Number 3 – Farms

Ok, not exactly farms really, the word I should have used was farmville, but it kind-of gives it away a little bit. My point here is the stupid amount of game invitations that people send. Fair enough, Facebook have this slightly (ok, very) annoying feature where you have to invite 10 of your friends to do something and you HAVE to select someone, but please, I bloody hate games. For anyone that knows me, you can send me a hundred invites to play farmville, texas holdem or any stupid word game but the only thing you’re going to do is A) piss me off and B) run the risk of me de-friending you. Find someone you don’t like, such as a distant cousin or old school friend and send the invites to them!

Number 4 – Quotes

This one doesn’t turn my hair green and make my shirt rip like the incredible hulk, but it still grates me a little bit so I chucked it in at number 4. Sometimes people get the urge to post a little quotation and it can be a little funny or inspiring – it’s a little hypocritical as I’ve been known to do this for a laugh – but sometimes they’re just shite. “Happiness is not the absence of problems, it’s the ability to deal with them”. Bugger off…

Number 5 – People you know

Right, this isn’t exactly a bad habit but let’s start with the “Bob suggests that you might know this person” trick. Granted, this can actually be useful sometimes but quite often it’s more like “I couldn’t stand that person when I worked with them and I wouldn’t be seen dead being their friend on Facebook” or “I slept with her sister and I’m the last fcuk!ng person that she would want as friends on Facebook”. If I was going to be friends with them, I’d either invite them myself, or shock-horror, they would invite me.

Whilst on the subject of people you may know, and before I sign off this little rant of mine, the real reason this sneaks in at number 5 is because of the automated Facebook feature of suggesting people you might know. Yes, it’s really clever (and slightly spooky as well), but if I don’t know them, or don’t want to know them, it should stop suggesting them to me. If they insist on doing this, then they should enhance the system and add a “For fcuks sake, I really don’t want to be friends with this person” button. That would work a treat.

About Adrian Britton

Sometimes I will talk about things that are interesting, and sometimes I won’t. Sometimes it will be a bit of a laugh, and sometimes it will just be a downright rant about something going on in the world – I’m often accused at moaning a lot, and I consider myself quite good at it !!
